Microorganisms in the Conversion of Agricultural Wastes to Compost
نویسنده
چکیده
Microorganisms play an important role in the recycling of agricultural wastes. The compost generated by bioconversion of agroresidues offers several benefits such as enhanced soil fertility and soil health which can lead to increased agricultural productivity, improved soil biodiversity, reduced ecological risks and a healthier environment. These virtues make composting an ideal option for processing of the enormous quantities of agrowastes that are generated in the world. Recent reports also indicate multifarious uses of bioaugmented compost as carrier for bioinoculants, biocontrol agents for diseases suppressivness and bioremediation. There is definite need to intensify research on novel effective microorganisms to prepare high quality compost in a relatively shorter duration and new technologies for large-scale production.

Composting of common organic wastes using microbial inoculants
It is important to use renewable resources to maximize crop yields and minimize the environmental hazards associated with chemical residues. Composting is an age old practice for the biological conversion of organic waste to a humus-like substance which can enhance physical, chemical and biological soil properties. To explore the effect of microorganisms in the composting process, three potent ...
متن کاملبررسی کیفیت کود کمپوست تولیدی از پسماندهای روستایی در شهرستان بابل
Background and purpose: In spite of many studies on composting from municipal solid wastes, rural solid wastes have not been studied. A high percentages of rural solid wastes containing domestic, animal and agricultural solid waste is biodegradable. The objective of this research was to study the chemical and microbial quality of compost produced by mixed rural solid wastes and other composts...
متن کاملCompost: Beneficial Uses of Compost in Florida Vegetable Crops
Composting is a biological decomposition process where microorganisms convert raw organic materials into relatively stable humus-like material. During decomposition, microorganisms assimilate complex organic substances and release inorganic nutrients. An adequate composting process kills pathogens and stabilizes compost organic carbon before the material is land-applied. In 1997, 27.2 million m...
متن کاملThe composting potential of different organic solid wastes: experience from the island of Crete.
For the past 20 years, the National Foundation for Agricultural Research in Crete and the School of Agricultural Technology of the Technological and Educational Institute of Crete have been involved in a number of research and development activities, related to the production and evaluation of compost derived from a variety of local solid, mainly agricultural organic wastes. Materials such as o...
متن کاملPelleted organo-mineral fertilisers from composted pig slurry solids, animal wastes and spent mushroom compost for amenity grasslands.
In Ireland, conversion of biodegradable farm wastes such as pig manure spent mushroom compost and poultry litter wastes to pelletised fertilisers is a desirable option for farmers. In this paper, results obtained from the composting of pig waste solids (20% w/w) blended with other locally available biodegradable wastes comprising poultry litter (26% w/w), spent mushroom compost (26% w/w), cocoa...
